Quick Shot, the ranger elite bow attack?

I've been wracking my brain about this...

For those of you who don't know what it is...

"Shoot an arrow 3 times faster than normal. All your attack skills are disabled for 2 seconds."

The only thing I can see this being useful in conjunction with is something like choking gas, where quickshot can serve as a fast recharge distracting shot.

It's not meant for damage, since it's got no damage adds, it's not meant to pierce evade/block since it doesn't...

So, that being said, can anyone really think up a use for this skill so profoundly awesome that it really deserves its elite skill status?

In a battle with full groups ... I dunno. My first response is to say that its useless, and trust me, elite skills can sometimes be just that.

A non-ranger guess: If you were fighting a paladin who loves to heal himself at about 35% health just when your thinking youve got him, this skill may be cool. Get your health to 85% or better when his is at 40%. Then click this baby (only eliminates use of attack skills) and fire away. You may be able to shoot off so many arrows fast enough to make his heal worthless and die. Then again, this depends on how long it lasts and weapons/armor stats, as well as attributes lol.

Coming from a Monk who doesnt know much about rangers and their needs.

well the thing is you can't spam ANY attack skills in the 2 second disable window, and you can't use quickshot again for 3 seconds...that and it doesn't add any damage...so it's like, "Ok I hit you for 10 damage, and I can't use any attacks for 2 seconds, eat that!"

Lightning reflexes is the thing to use if you want extra speed in your attack, or alternatively, tigers fury. I have never used quickshot since the very first shot. Poopy indeed.

I meant to say that yeah you cant use skills but maybe you can just plain old fashioned shoot him to death.

correct me but the chance to hit an escaping foe by bow depends on the speed he is running. it takes time for the arrow to hit the target.
so in order to lower the chance for a miss you could use "favorable winds" ( 2x speed ) or Quick Shot.

depending on the role you are playing it might be quite usefull to have a ranger that takes the last health points off without having to run after.

worth an elite ? i dont know.

I think a low-arc bow has a very high chance of hitting regardless, quickshot or no.

I like sockes idea. In the end its like most skills, elite or not. It all will depend on many many variables. Between runes, armor, defensive skills, fleeing, weapon stats, etc. you just have to experiement. Its likely if you dont see anything about it in previous threads, that its not a very useful skill. Be creative, find a really cool use for it and post that.

Try Kindle Arrows + Lightning Reflexes + Quick shot. You can deal out some heavy damage if used correctly.

People usually jump on Barrage. I don't understand why. It is too situational. you have to have a group really close together for it to be effective, which doesn't happen very often. Try using Barrage against Spirits or Smites and it has a horrible backlash.

In the game there's no skill lockdown or recharge on it, and the arrow shoots 2x faster instead. It works alright with a prep + Tiger's Fury/Lightning Reflexes.

if you want even faster damage, try this
it takes a bit of prep work, but its worth it

quickening zephyr + favorable winds + kindle arrow + tiger's fury + quickshot{E} = bout 3-4 shots per 2 seconds

using a shortbow (fastest RoF) with a zealous string, i've taken down casters extremely fast in pvp

this doesnt work on warriors that well, but any lil bit helps. and its best to high a high expertise since QZ boosts the energy costs of skills >_>
